Jalandhar was defeated in the battle and died as he lost all his senses. Vrinda was very sad to hear of Jalandhar's death. Knowing this act of lying, he cursed Lord Vishnu, "Just as I was deceived in my love affairs, so will your wife be deceived." He also said that Lord Vishnu will transform into what people will recognize as Shaligram. Due to the curse of Vrinda, Lord Vishnu is said to have taken the form of Dasharath's son Shri Ram. Later, he had to endure the pain of separation from Sita when she was kidnapped.
