Shree Dhanvantari ji

Dhanvantari, known as the physician of the gods and the divine propagator of Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine in India. His birth is associated with the churning of the ocean (samudra manthan) performed by deities (celestial beings) and asuras (demons) to obtain the nectar of immortality.

During Samudra Manthan, various divine objects emerged from the ocean, including a vessel (Kumbh) containing the nectar of immortality. Dhanvantari is said to have appeared with a pot of nectar in his hands, symbolizing the origin of Ayurveda and the healing art.

Dhanvantari's birth is celebrated on Dhanteras, the first day of the festival of Diwali. On this day, people worship Lord Dhanvantari to get blessings of good health and prosperity.

He is depicted holding a pot of nectar with four hands, symbolizing his role as a divine healer.
