Since ancient times, many topics have been presented in the scriptures of Sanatan Dharma which appear to be incomplete and false. Even in today's time, when the world has reached the moon, our sisters are asking whether menstruation makes them so impure that God does not like to see them, it is God who has given it, then why are the doors of the temple opened for them? Are you closed? And if they do not go to the temple, do they not have the right to take prasad? Prasad is God's, then why would God want this?
Nowadays, we keep it clean to prevent the spread of impurities caused by menstruation. There are sanitary napkins. So should women still be stopped from going to temples? Will even chanting a holy mantra like Gayatri Mantra make them impure? Shouldn't women really worship? And when it is so impure then the vagina of the goddess is worshiped in Mata Kamakhya Devi temple, one of the 52 Shaktipeeths. The temple remains closed from 22nd June to 25th June, because Mata Sati is menstruating during these days. Even men cannot enter the temple during these 3 days. It is said that during these 3 days, a white cloth is kept in the court of Mother Goddess, which turns red in 3 days. This cloth is called Ambuvachi cloth. This is what is given to the devotees as Prasad, so why this discrimination with us.
The truth is that menstruation has never been considered impure in Sanatan Dharma. Just as adherence to celibacy is a sign of penance for men, similarly masturbation is a symbol of renunciation for women. The temple of Kamakhya Mata is an excellent example of this, where even today it is believed that those who visit this temple thrice, get freedom from worldly bondages. Therefore, how can we say that menstruation for women makes them impure.
There are many such villages in India even today, where when the first period comes, it is not considered impure but is celebrated as a festival. Kamakhya Temple located in Assam is a place where women's menstruation is celebrated like a festival. Here women come to see Kamakhya Mata during their menstruation and it is celebrated as Mahalaya festival. And this celebration is not just for one day but for a week or more. And if Sanatan Dharma considered it impure then why is it being celebrated as a festival even today in many places.
When there were external invasions (Mughal, Dutch, Portuguese, British) on India, this tradition of celebrating menstruation had to be stopped because the invaders exploited the girls and no parent wanted it, so gradually Stopped celebrating the festival of menstruation.
Ayurveda also recognizes menstruation as a physiological and self-purifying process; Nor is it considered impure. Ayurveda has prescribed lifestyle for menstruating women - like do's and don'ts, which we call 'Rajaswala Paricharya'. Its aim is to take care of women's health and prevent any health problems in children. Unfortunately, in the modern era, women are neither told about menstrual care nor are it followed. Girls can benefit from it by responding appropriately to the physical and psychological changes that occur during menstruation, as well as experiencing fewer symptoms.
Nowhere in Sanatan Dharma does it say that menstruation is impure, but during menstruation, women are prohibited from bathing, combing hair, cutting nails and are asked to stay in a quiet and less noisy place. . There is no unclean but scientific reason behind this: - As we are moving away from our culture, due to lack of knowledge, menstrual related diseases are increasing in women, like PCOD. This syndrome is increasing very rapidly. Due to which there is problem in menstruation.
During this period, Vata and Pitta increase in the body because the body has to handle new activities, it requires more energy. Therefore, in Ayurveda, it is forbidden to do things that increase Vata and Pitta. For example, taking bath is prohibited as it depletes the body of energy and increases the already increased Pitta. Combing the hair is also prohibited because during menstruation the hair becomes very weak and starts breaking more. Avoid doing too much activity during menstruation as it causes weakness in the body and bones also become weak, which can lead to injury.
In, it is advisable to meditate with a calm mind during menstruation because at this time the menstruating woman is away from activities due to which the mind easily gets absorbed in meditation.
Menstruation is not impure or a curse but a blessing and this is also scientifically proven. Because men have to work hard and meditate to keep their body healthy while women easily flush out toxins from their body during menstruation, hence women have less heart diseases and also live longer. Is. If menstrual care is taken properly, the risk of diseases caused by menstruation also reduces. In this, menstruation was not considered impure nor were any restrictions imposed on women during this period, rather it was told how to maintain the balance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha in the body during menstruation so that any kind of health related problem does not occur. Can be avoided.
In Sanatan Dharma, menstruation has not been linked to impurity in any book, rather this is the conservative thinking of some people. The truth of the statement "Menstruation is not impure or a curse" is also found in Yajurveda and at present the temple of Kamakhya Mata is also an authentic example of this.
